First Baptist Jensen Beach built, supports, and operates a mission school in Debauche, Haiti. This mission was begun 10 years ago by a single member of our church. While working in Haiti, he found himself in this unlikely part of the countryside, so remote that it is not found on most maps. It is a beautiful valley of rich, dark soil, streams, and spirited people surrounded by a ring of massive mountains on all sides, giving the appearance that God reached down and cupped his hands to protect this people from the outside troubles of the world.
Through our ongoing support, over 400 children in Debauche receive an education and learn about the love of God. Our mission supports nine classes, grades Pre-K through eight, yet has no running water, power, or school supplies as our children do. The children’s smiles will melt your heart. They are very happy with this country lifestyle and are generally healthy except for occasional skin issues, bones that were not set correctly when broken, and some small facial tumors. The community’s youth and families gather at our mission to receive support, an occasional meal, learn songs, play soccer, and just have fun.
We pray that our efforts continue to bring glory to God as First Baptist Jensen Beach in Debauche, Haiti helps develop disciples and servants of Jesus Christ.
