Seriously. What is this?

Pardon the totally worthless blog post today, but I have to know something.  What is this thing Fox Sports punishes us with during every football game?

I mean seriously.  What is the point?  Has there ever been ANY icon/image/mascot more annoying than this?  And it gets worse.  On Thanksgiving, he'll be dressed as a turkey or something.  I don't get it.  Somebody help me with this.

You mean "Cleatus the FOX Sports Robot". Maybe the most annoying mindless and superfluous bit of nonsense I've seen in my pigskin watching years.

Apparently others agree with our surmise of Mr. Robo QB. I quote:

"It should surprise no one that Cleatus is the subject of much hate mail. His silly warm up antics aren't really the kind of thing the serious aficionado of a mature sport like football are going to enjoy. And so he has joined such memorable yet reviled mascots and spokespeople like Mr. Whipple, the "Where's the beef?" granny, and the Noid in the Hated Icons Hall of Fame.

FOX Sports loves him though, and they had a company called Actionheads aka Foamheads aka Foam Fanatics develop a 10" action figure, and a 3" '3 in one' figure."

Maybe a way to suck in the younger crowd as well as non-football fanatics. Are you beginning to get the picture? Marketing. The point is that there is no point other than money.

In January when you begin seeing these robots in church, you will know two things:

1. It's working
2. The end is near

BTW, you know you've come off the spiritual pinacle when Monday's blog concerns an action figure...
